In this lesson we will briefly scratch the surface on the creation / evolution controversy.

How can we reconcile the Bible and the physical evidences of science when it comes to creation? To many, science and the Bible seem to be at odds on the issues of origins.

The heart can only follow what the mind can believe. It is extremely important for our spiritual health that what we are able to reconcile the evidence of natural law and the Biblical account of creation. Either the Bible is in error, rendering it questionable and untrustworthy on all issues, or it must completely jive with the evidences of natural law around us.

Neither the Creation Model nor the Evolution Model is really true science. True science requires the use of a hypothesis (a guess) followed up by controlled, measurable and repeatable experimentation.

The study of origins is really "proved" by the preponderance of evidence, similar to a court of law. We make our model, and compare it to the evidence we find in nature and natural law. The verdict on which model is correct should be based upon which theory is supported by the most evidence.

Of course, from a spiritual perspective, Creation is not a theory, because God has shown us in His Word exactly how the world was formed. If God knows what He is talking about, then what He says should be supported by correct observations of history and nature.

6,000 years old - According to the genealogy lists of the Bible in Genesis 5 and 11 the creation week is pinpointed at about 6,000 years ago.

Interplanetary Dust - NASA expected as much as 54 feet of moon dust, they found 1 - 3 inches (less than 8,000 years worth

Oil Deposit Pressure - If those oil deposits had been there for more than 5,000 years in some cases there would be no pressure left.

Calcium carbonate remains on coral reefs can be completely accounted for in the five thousand years since Noah's flood.

Oldest living things on Earth are 5,000 years old - the Bristlecone Pine Trees

Population of the world today could have been reached at 1/2% per year within the past 4,000 years (actual population growth is 2%). 1 million years of man on earth would require 2 dozen graves for every acre on earth (3,000 billion people), yet ancient bones are extremely rare.

The Earth's Magnetic Field - at present magnetic decay rates the Earth's magnetic field would have been as equal to that of a star as little as 10,000 years ago, making life uninhabitable.

The sun is shrinking at 1/10^th % per century. At that rate the sun would have been double in size 100,000 years ago and touching the earth only 20 million years ago.

Five days, on the sixth day man was created - Genesis 1:26-31

The Chicken - Genesis 1:21,25 - God created the animals first and then they reproduced after their own kind.

The plants came on day 3 and the Sun, Moon and stars on day 4. If each day is representative of a long period of evolutionary time, then all the plants would have died before they had a chance to receive sunlight.

As evidenced in the fossil record most all dinosaur bones appear to be buried in a relatively short period of time. Noah's flood would have wiped out the dinosaurs just as it did all other animals during the flood. Because food would have been scarce after the flood, many of the dinosaurs that were on board the ark may have starved to death after the flood. Due to changes in atmospheric conditions after the flood other dinosaurs simply may have stayed much smaller since their life spans would have been greatly shortened. There is evidence in folklore from around the world that dinosaurs (dragons) lived for many years after the flood. Some may still be alive in remote areas today (ocean, African jungle swamps).

The law of entropy - all thing move towards a state of disorder and decay. Romans 8:21

Creation supports this law, Evolution runs contradictory to it

Absolutely not! In Genesis 1 & 2 it specifically states over and over that "there was evening and there was morning, <another> day ". The Creator went out of His way to tell us that these were literal 24-hour days.

God created the universe with the appearance of age. Examples of this are the trees in the Garden of Eden and Adam and Eve themselves. He made the stars to light the Earth, so He would have made the lightbeams instantaneously along with the stars.

The evolutionary fossil chart was devised long before the discovery of Carbon 14 dating. No such progression of rock layers and corresponding fossils is found anywhere on planet earth!

Evolution uses "circular reasoning" to date the fossils and rocks. If you find a fossil and take it to an evolutionist paleontologist he will tell you how old the fossil is based upon the age of the rock. Grab a piece of the rock you found the fossil in and take it to an evolutionist geologist and he will ask you what type of fossil you found in it, look on the Geologic Chart and then tell you the date of the rock.

What about Potassium/Argon and Uranium/Lead dating? The results vary by as much as 4 billion years when tested more than once. An 1801 lava flow in Hawaii was dated as from 160 million to 3 billion years old. (Recent example: 1973, Alberta Canada - Tree roots were fossilized in moments when a high voltage line fell on them. Since heat was involved in the fossilization process scientist said using dating results to find out how old the fossils were would be meaningless. The heat process would a give a false sense of age.

Carbon 14 Dating - assumes a constant rate of decay. With a half-life of 5,730 years, objects assumed to be more that 50,000 years would not be tested. Atmospheric pollution (volcanoes, industrial burning), solar flares and sunspots, supernovas, and meteors falling to earth alter the rate of decay.

Another problem is tree fossils found around the world that protrude through more that on layer of the "geological record". If these layers of strata were laid down over millions of years, the top part of the trees would decay.

Conclusion: Conditions during the Flood were ideal for "fossilizing" millions of animals, plants and even dinosaurs.
